Where would you go if the "Good Fairy" granted you the time and money to do a bicycle tour anywhere in the world? Suddenly, Paul Stockton was handed "The Package" from the company where he worked, and was granted that wish.

The detours on the road across the country, through floods, construction and old maps seemed to symbolize the detour his life had taken. The hum-drum of the steady job was now the open adventure and freedom of the road. The ride was "old style": no electronic gadgets, laptop, GPS, or cell phone, and no bike computer. He used his old film camera and shot slide film as he travelled.

That was Paul from coast to coast... the "unplugged" easy rider on his fully loaded recumbent. So here's to the cross-Canada ride of 2010, the Year of The Detour."
